In brief · compiled from solosupper.co.uk

What is it?
Solo Supper is a cooking and meal-planning service with 456 single-serving recipes, a weekly planner, shopping list, use-it-up suggestions, and cooking timers.
Who is it for?
It is for people who cook meals for one, especially those who want to use shared grocery packs and reduce food waste.
How does it work?
You can choose dinners or use Pro to have a week planned around shared packs and ingredients already in your fridge. The service combines the ingredients into one shopping list, and recipes include single portions, timers, and scaling for guests.
What does it cost?
The free plan costs £0 and includes the recipes, planner, shopping list, and use-it-up feature without an account. Pro costs £2.49 monthly or £14.99 yearly, with a 14-day trial and no card required.

Why I built this

I cook for one, and I got fed up with recipes that serve four. I’d divide everything by four, still make too much, and by Friday there’d be half a bag of spinach and a lonely pepper going soft in the fridge. So I wrote dinners for one person from the start and planned the weeks so the packs get used up: the spinach goes into three dinners instead of the bin. It’s grown to 456 recipes from 65 countries, and the recipes, planner and shopping list are free.

Supermarkets sell for families, so cooking for one usually means half a bag of spinach in the bin by Friday. Solo Supper has 456 dinners from 65 countries, each written for one person. Plan a week, get one shopping list that adds it all up, and use the “use it up” pages when something’s about to turn. The recipes, planner and shopping list are free. Pro plans the week around shared packs so nothing’s left over.
