How Daily Shipped works

Daily Shipped is a daily paper of newly launched startups, and listing is free. Anyone can submit a launch, not only its maker. To keep it useful, every launch goes through three checks:

1. A real, live website. We visit the site automatically when it's submitted. Dead links, parked domains, short links and social profiles are refused, and each website is listed once.
2. A human review. Every submitted launch is read by a person who checks the product is real and live before it goes in an edition. A few launches the editor adds from the desk's own list go in without that reading; they are marked Picked by the editor on their page.
3. A claim by the maker, if they want it. Makers can claim their listing by adding a small tag to their homepage or a DNS record. That earns the Verified stamp and lets them edit the listing.

What "checked" means: we confirm a product exists, works at a basic level and isn't a placeholder or obvious spam. We don't test it in depth or vouch for its claims, security or quality, and the Verified stamp only shows who controls the website. Please do your own research before you sign up or pay. More in the terms.

Anyone can report a listing that's wrong or spam. Every report goes to the editor, who looks at the listing again. Nothing is taken down automatically.

Each account can have 2 launches in review at a time and up to 6 per 30 days. Votes are one per account, and you can't vote for your own launch.

The weekly winner

The top of the paper is earned with votes, never bought. Votes cast from Friday to Thursday night (UTC) count toward that week. The launch with the most upvotes becomes the winner of the week, shown at the top of the paper until a later week has a new winner. It needs at least 3 votes, so a single vote never wins, and a winner can't win again for 30 days.

To keep it fair, a vote counts only from an account that is at least a day old when the week closes: sign up early in the week and your vote counts.
